SUMMARY:Tacoma STEAM Apollo 50th Challenge Day
DESCRIPTION:  \nJuly 20\, 2019\, will mark the 50th Anniversary of the landing of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the Moon in Apollo 11. NASA’s Northwest Earth and Space Sciences Pipeline (NESSP) in partnership with Graduate Tacoma’s STEAM Network\, MESA\, and UW Tacoma Math and Science Leadership Program will hold a 5th-12th grade student drone and robotic challenge to celebrate! This event challenges student teams to recreate the Apollo 11 moon landing using a drone and a LEGO Mindstorm robot. \nThe Apollo Next Giant Leap Student (ANGLeS) Challenge is a national challenge celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission by giving students the chance to recreate the landing using drones and robots\, focusing on making it accessible for underrepresented and underserved communities. \nOrganizations will run the Apollo Next Giant Leap Student Challenge locally to select a team to advance to the nearest regional challenge hub.
