Tacoma Ocean Fest is a free festival on Tacoma’s waterfront for National Ocean Month, plus many June ocean events including a Lantern Paddle for Species and a Waterfront Cleanup. We also hold the Grit City Costume Paddle during Halloween Weekend.
On Friday June 28th, 2024, Foss Waterway Seaport will be hosting the Lantern Paddle for Species. Bring your human-powered watercraft and a species-themed lantern and paddle on the Thea Foss Waterway, or stay on dry land to check out the parade. The Paddle will be from 7pm-10pm.
The festival is taking place June 29th, 2024. In the morning, join us for a waterway cleanup with marine naturalists from 10am-12pm. We will have glass art hidden around the waterfront for you to find, courtesy of Fire it Forward. After the cleanup, head to Foss Waterway Seaport for the main festival from 12pm-5pm. Check out the museum, explore art from our featured artists, enjoy eco-themed performances and OceanX talks throughout the day, and learn more about conservation from local environmental organizations. The mission of Tacoma Ocean Fest is to celebrate the ocean, learn about its threats, and get inspired to protect it.
