New COVID-19 Relief for Nonprofits

As we all continue to endure the explicit racism that our country has yet to deal with, the Foundation for Tacoma Students remains steadfast in our commitment to advancing anti-racism in this organization and beyond. We will not stand for attacks against our values and the blatant displays of white supremacy as we work to help every child achieve success in an inequitable system.

With the opening of the 2021 Legislative Session, we focus our efforts on the role and influence we play personally and professionally in our community. It will require collective action for us to advance student-centered education amid the disruptions, disconnections, and trauma brought about by the pandemic.

A remote legislative session provides us all with more opportunities than ever before to support working parents and the resiliency of their children – both of which are key to building vibrant, flourishing communities. For the first time, we will be able to submit written testimonies through an online portal that will be considered and entered as part of official state records.

We will continue to keep you updated each week throughout the legislative session with news, resources, and opportunities to raise our voices for economic, social, and racial justice critical to supporting healthy and equitable learning environments for our students.

Together, We Stand

Our democracy is sacred, and when threatened, we all must speak. We stand in solidarity condeming the violence that took place earlier this week and are prepared to do the hard work of healing our communities and our country.
