Dear Senator/Representative ______,

Washington State Leadership Assistance for Science Education Reform (LASER) is a state science-education program created in 1999 and currently led by Washington STEM in partnership with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, Educational Service Districts (ESDs), the Institute for Systems Biology, and school districts. LASER is comprised of dedicated science education leaders who are collectively working to provide comprehensive support to schools and districts across key components of science education–community engagement, professional development, curriculum, assessment, instructional materials, and science/STEM strategic planning.

This session we are advocating for a modest increase in funding to $700,000 from $356,000 to double the number of school districts served by LASER in helping with strategic planning and science leadership development.

Please join teachers, superintendents and other education professionals from across the state in supporting the Washington State LASER budget proviso request. LASER is included in the current draft budget bills at the lower amount of funding SB 6168 Sec-520 (12a) and HB 2325 Sec-520 (12a).
